We've been teaching the GCSE OCR History Pilot. Sadly, it will not continue in its current form beyond 2012. But the planning and new programmes of study have not been in vain. When we began teaching the Pilot we really liked the sound of one particular unit which gave us the chance to incorporate the history around us – i.e. our geographic locale – in order to give the students a personal encounter with the past. However, we hit a problem ... one which we really only recognised afterwards.
